1. What is a Credit Union?
A credit union is a cooperative that is owned and controlled by the people who use its services. These people are members. Credit unions serve people who share something in common, such as where they work, live, or go to church.
2. How is it different from a bank?
Banks and savings and loans are financial institutions that are in business to make a profit. They are owned by groups of stockholders whose interests include earning a healthy return on their investments. Credit unions are not-for-profit, and exist to provide a safe, convenient place for members to save money and to get loans at reasonable rates.
3. Does the Credit Union have checking accounts?
Of course! Our Share Draft accounts work just like checking accounts.
4. What about a savings account?
In addition to traditional savings accounts, we offer 6- and 12-month certificates with even higher interest rates.
5. Can I get a mortgage from the Credit Union?
Of course! The Credit Union offers many different mortgage products to fit individual needs.
6. What are the current interest rates?
You can find up-to-date rates on all of our services here.
Our VISA® Debit is an ATM and a debit card all in one!
8. Can I have my paychecks deposited electronically?
Yes, provided your employer's payroll department is set up for direct deposit. And you can have loan payments automatically deducted from your paychecks, as well.
Like other financial institutions, credit unions are closely regulated, and they operate in a very prudent manner. The National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, administered by an agency of the federal government, insures deposits of credit union members at more than 12,000 federal and state chartered credit unions nationwide.
